I have thirty years of experience as a graphic designer, specializing in consumer retail packaging and brand strategy, working with accounts such as Kraft Foods, Coca Cola, Clorox, Nordstrom, and Disney. Understanding and leveraging their brand was essential to creating material that spoke strongly to their consumers, capturing their loyalty through influencing lifestyle choices and ultimately, driving sales. What better way to do that than by telling a compelling story and appealing to individuals on an emotional level—something I learned first hand Disney did extremely well. At the core of the Disney brand was the magic of story telling and the strong embodiment of the Disney spirit at all levels, from corporate culture to entertainment and retail.
As the in-house graphic designer, photographer and content creator for Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences (SAAS), a grade 6-12 private school, I produced digital and printed material, slideshows and short videos for marketing, communications, and events. Emphasizing its “Culture of Performance”, the original SAAS brand was vibrant and dynamic, expressed through bright painterly elements, bold typography, and sometimes the school’s mascot, the Cardinal. Intent on telling each student’s unique story, all media featured maximum photographic content alongside the school’s colorful brand elements.
The common thread in my work is attaining complete fluency of every client’s brand and strategy. My range of experience includes working with brands requiring a strict adherence to existing assets, to brands calling for evolutionary directions, and conceiving entirely new brands through research, focus groups, ideation, naming and strategy.
